Short Circuit Stew



Short Circuit Stew
Serves 6-8
Ingredients
½ lb. Your choice Ham (deli) or Ham Product(ham & water product i.e. Corn King etc)
            --1-2 in. squares sliced or cubed
¼ lb pintos, ¼ lb black eyed peas raw or 14 oz. canned
1 clove garlic peeled but whole
4 large Russets or 6 Yukon Golds
           -- Russets cut into 1/4th s peeled
           -- Yukons cut into halves peeled
1tbs Mrs. Dash Regular (Yellow Lid)
¼ cup flour or 1/3 cup Peppered gravy mix
1/8th lb carrots sliced ½ to 1 in. thick or 1 14 oz. can
2-3 caps full EVOO(Extra virgin Olive oil) or Tsp margarine

Preparation steps
1.  Soak all beans 3 hours in 3 qt pot with 1tbsp Mrs. Dash and
            (if canned blk eyed peas wait till end)
            2-3 caps full EVOO or melted margarine

2.  Drain water add fresh 2.5 quarts or 3/4s full. to  3-4 qt pot          
            Add entire clove of garlic + 1 tsp Mrs. Dash Original
            Low – medium heat 2-3 hrs. or  until beans soft but still a little hard in middle
              (adding 1 4-8 oz. cup water every 35 minutes or as necessary if used higher heat)

3.  Add Raw Potatoes, Ham, and Raw Carrots: keep same heat just a little bit higher
                        Same heat 1 more hour
                        If canned carrots wait till end

4.  Try a bean if soft now add carrots and canned blk eyed peas and turn heat up max
                        Add in flour or gravy mix and stir in moderately attempting to break up taters if                                     large russets but not to mush beans. This thickens mixture.

5. Finally, after gravy or flour has made water thick let stand 15 minutes and enjoy with you             favorite cornbread or crackers. Water level should be about 2qt. in the 3qt pan when             finished
